Dear mountain and hiking friends, climbing fans and the curious!

Welcome to the homepage of the Lichtenfels section of the Deutscher Alpenverein eV - DAV for short.

We are pleased that you are paying us a visit and hope that we can inform you about our association.
The Lichtenfels section is part of the umbrella organization of the German Alpine Club (DAV) based in Munich. Direct membership of the DAV for individuals is not possible, you always have to become a member of a section.
The DAV consists of more than 350 sections with over 1,289,000 members throughout Germany. The Lichtenfels section currently has 569 members. The Lichtenfels section has been a member of the DAV and a registered association since it was founded in 1909. (the first founding dates back to April 1883; dissolved in 1890).

The members of our Lichtenfels section are nature lovers who also pursue their sporting activities such as hiking, mountaineering, sport climbing, ice touring, high-altitude mountaineering, ski touring, desert and mountain bike tours, etc.
The concept of nature conservation has always been prominent in our section. For example, botanical hikes are carried out in small groups. The environmentally friendly use of rocks and mountains is as much a part of today as it was yesterday. Our section has taken over the rock sponsorship for the Kleinziegenfelder valley and the Staffelberg.
Our homepage will inform you about everything else that interests you.

Dear section members,

Accidents, such as in the Jamtal, directly in front of the Jamtalhütte and the legal processing of them, give reason to think more intensively about safety when mountaineering and other sporting activities. This year we are again offering various mountain tours for our members. And many look forward to the mountain season and the various events of our section every year, which you are welcome to take part in.We refer here to our hiking and touring plan.

Mountaineering etc. are beautiful sports, precisely because you can push your own limits here, which sets it apart from other events. Mountaineering in all its forms is always a piece of adventure, and the community on the mountain enhances the experience. However, subjective and objective dangers make mountaineering a high-risk sport. Even the best planning and tour management (the Lichtenfels section itself does not have any trained tour guides) cannot make mountaineering absolutely safe, there is always a residual risk. Activities are always at your own risk. Everyone who embarks on the adventure of nature must be aware of this.
